About The Thomson Jazz Club

The Thomson Jazz Club may be regarded as the unofficial national jazz club for amateur and professional jazz musicians and vocalists. Located at the Thomson Community Club, they conduct regular jam sessions for experienced and budding jazz musicians and vocalists, band practices for the performing groups as well as jazz workshops among other things. Whether you are new or a veteran to jazz, there is a place for everyone.

Listeners are also welcome to sit and enjoy the music in the jam sessions held in the air-conditioned function room at no cost.

The Club comprises members from Singapore and all over the world. Most of them are either full-time students or hold full-time jobs.

To-date, they have three big bands (Thomson Big Band, Thomson Swing Band, Thomson Band III) and also some small ensembles. The Thomson Swing Band plays big band and swing favourites every fortnight at the Harry's Bar (Boat Quay) on a Monday accompanied by Lindy Hoppers from Singapore and all over the world (See Swing Events @ Singapore for details).

You need not perform in any of the Thomson's bands to be eligible for membership.
