It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing!
World famous jazz trumpeter, Wynton Marsalis, visited Singapore for the third time with his Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra (LCJO) in November. This trip is certainly a treat for everyone, be he or she a listener, musician or Lindy Hopper. Not only that, everyone, from kids to grandpas and grandmas received something.

DAY OUT AT ESPLANADE
1400 |
It was a hot and sunny afternoon. But that did not deter the crowd. Long before the band started, they were already gathering around the stage. But the wait was not in vain as the Thomson Big Band played some tunes while they were doing their sound check. |
1430 |
The Jitterbugs Swingapore started with a mini Lindy Hop performance with aerials and acrobats to wow the crowd. After giving the audience some introduction to Lindy Hop, they began their free 6-count East Coast Swing workshop. |
1500 |
The Thomson Big Band started the jam before they were joined by the members of the LCJO. In the midst of the jam, as expected, Lindy Hoppers from all over the world were swinging with the rhythm. With their aerials, Big Apple and some unorthodox moves, the Lindy Hoppers certainly were a pleasing addition to the band. Not to miss the action, the Lindy Hop Ensemble also turned up for the event. This event also brought us many rare encounters and surprises. So don’t just read this, click the links and discover the rare gems and surprises within. |
